Britain’s Anna Morris completed a hat-trick of gold medals at the Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai as she won the women’s madison on Saturday with Erin Boothman.
Wales’ Morris, 31, and 19-year-old Boothman, from Scotland, took gold with 40 points – finishing ahead of France in second and Japan in third.
“I am quite speechless. It is going to take a while to sink in and reflect on it,” Morris, a seven-time world champion, said.
“It has been a busy few days so now I have got time to let that soak in and enjoy it.”
Morris is the first woman to win all three events – team pursuit, omnium and madison – in a single championships since the introduction of women’s madison in 2017.
