Rohan Dennis took a firm grasp on the elite men’s time trial at the 2022 Federation University Road National Championships, as he debuted his new Jumbo Visma colours with a dominating ride to secure the national title.

Dennis had a clear upper hand in the battle with Luke Durbridge, finishing with a time of 45:33.58, one minute and 13 seconds ahead of the  BikeExchange-Jayco rider. Connor Leahy (InForm TMX MAKE) came third.

The elite men’s time trial was run over 37.5km, with 2 laps of a course that started and finished at the Federation University’s Mount Helen campus. The riders faced some sharp turns and more than 200m of elevation on each lap in the gusty evening race, with the time trials opening up the competition for the national titles. The elite road races in Buninyong complete the racing on Sunday.
